The Science
The ICON device absorbs melanin with pulsed light, which crumbles the skin’s pigment on the targeted area without harming the surrounding tissue. The two main types of blood vessels it treats are vascular and pigmented lesions that will shrink and fade after treatment. The first few weeks after the treatment, your body flushes the melanin particles through its lymphatic system. The Treatment
The area is prepped and cleansed during your treatment to diminish oil and other impurities. We may apply a gentle numbing cream to enhance your comfort. The ICON device is glided on your skin, and it instantly starts to provide the area with intense pulse light beams. You may get mild tingling sensations as the light penetrates the skin – most patients say it feels like a rubber band snaps. These sensations fade quickly. The procedure takes 20-30 minutes for each targeted area.

When will I see the results?
You’ll start to see the results in one week. Enhancements will continue to improve, and optimal results will become visible four to six months after the procedure.
How long do results last?
Typically, the results of an IPL Potofacial will be apparent for six months to one year. We recommend follow-up procedures every six to twelve months.
What can I do to prepare for my treatment?
We may ask you to do the following preparation for your skin rejuvenation treatment:
• Avoid sun exposure and use an SPF 30 sunscreen when outside
• Discontinue using particular topical creams like retinoids because it affects sensitivity
• Don’t smoke for better skin healing after IPL
• Drink water to keep your skin hydrated
What can I do to recover?
Keep the treated area moist. Don’t peel or exfoliate the treatment area. Let it naturally heal. You may wear makeup. If you’re not wearing makeup, ensure your skin is moist to accelerate healing. Cover the treated area with an SPF 30 moisturizer if you go out in the sun. Don’t take hot showers and go to swimming pools for a week after treatment.
Are there side effects?
Yes. You may get mild sunburn sensations and slight swelling.
