Did you know? Sculptra is an injectable that’s been used since 1999. It was FDA approved in 2004 to treat lipoatrophy in patients living with HIV. Lipoatrophy causes facial fat reduction, resulting in sunken cheeks and deep folds on the face. In 2014 the FDA approved Sculptra Aesthetic as a method to treat wrinkles and folds on the face to give a more youthful appearance.
The Treatment
Sculptra can be used alone or combined with other skin rejuvenation treatments such as Botox and Dermal Fillers. It effectively enhances facial volume in patients who have thread lifts. We’ll discuss your aesthetic goals during the consultation and determine which treatment plan is tailored to your skin condition. The most common area this treatment improves is the mid-face, but a study is experimenting with this filler by injecting it within other body areas, like the buttocks, for a lift. This procedure can also be performed near the temples to relieve skin reduction. Depending on the size of the targeted area, it can take 15 minutes to an hour to complete.
